Do solar carports need planning permission?
Usually yes, as new structures, though applications for car park canopies are generally straightforward and well received given policy support for renewables and EV infrastructure. We handle the planning process as part of the project.
How many parking spaces does a carport cover?
Structures are bespoke: from a single double-row bay block to canopies across an entire retail or hospital car park. Generation scales with coverage, and we design around your traffic flow so the build never closes the car park.
Can the carport power EV chargers directly?
Yes. Carport, battery and chargers work as one system: the canopy generates, the battery buffers, and the chargers deliver, minimising what you draw from the grid at peak rates.
What about wind and snow loading in the North East?
Every structure is engineered to location-specific wind and snow loads with structural calculations included in the design package. These are permanent, certified structures, not marquees.
